Volcano Therapeutics, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of intravascular ultrasound ("IVUS") catheters and Functional Measurement guidewires used to diagnose and assess diseases of the coronary and peripheral vasculature. Volcano sells its products on a global basis including the United States, Japan, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East, Latin America, and Africa. Our products include the worlds' only 64 element phased array IVUS catheter (small enough to slip into and then image a coronary artery…from the inside out) and guidewires with diameters as small as fourteen thousands of an inch that are pre-loaded with precise sensors able to detect intracoronary blood pressure and Doppler flow. In most major markets of the world, our IVUS catheters and guidewires occupy a #1 or #2 market share position.

Volcano is dedicated to increasing IVUS' already important role in guiding PCI procedures by simplifying its use and integrating new technologies. Volcano has in excess of 80 issued U.S. patents. In addition to our unique-in-the-industry blood imaging technology, ChromaFlo, Volcano is also exploring a range of new approaches to enhance diagnosis of vessel geometry and visualization of plaque structure and type. These technologies hold promise to enhance ease-of-use and provide important new information for the interventionalist as they plan their procedures. These and other advances are playing an important role in studies attempting to assess patient-specific plaque morphology and cardiovascular risk.
